The popular line of Barbie Characters is part of a fine line of dolls that first came out in March of 1959. Barbie was invented by the American businesswoman named Ruth Handler. Ruth Handler was credited with the creation of this fantastic fashion doll. Ruth Handler first used a German doll called Bild Lilli as her original inspiration for Barbie.

Barbie is definitely the figurehead for the brand and always will be. She was manufactured by Mattel, Incorporated, which is an American toy company. What makes Barbie dolls so enduring and beloved is clear. They are a great bunch of dolls that are simply captivating. There is no other description that works better than this one does.

One of the most obvious of all Barbie Characters is no other than Barbie herself. Barbie’s whole name is Barbara Millicent Roberts. She is known more popularly as Barbie. She was the very first of the Barbie Characters to come out in 1959. She was described best as being a “Teen Age Fashion Model” on the packaging and her parents are George and Margaret Roberts.

Who are some of the other top characters that make up the spot-on line of Barbie dolls? They are no other than the following. They are:

1. Ken Carson – Ken Carson is Barbie’s boyfriend and the second character that was added to the popular doll line in 1961 to 1967 and again in 1969 to present. Ken’s full name is Ken Carson and he has been Barbie’s boyfriend since the beginning. His parent’s names are Kenneth and Edna.

2. Skipper Roberts – Skipper Roberts became the first of all the Barbie Doll characters to be added to Barbie’s actual family. Skipper first made her appearance from 1964 to 2003 and again from 2003 to present. Skipper is described as being Barbie’s younger sister who is 14 years old. She was first introduced as being a doll that had blue eyes and various hair colors from blonde to brown.

3. Francie Fairchild – Francie Fairchild is a doll in the Barbie line that was first marketed as being Barbie’s Modern Cousin. Francie was the first doll in the Barbie series to make the transition into the Mod era. Francie came out in 1966 and hung around until 1977. She was slightly younger than Barbie and the first of the Barbie dolls to have actual rooted eyelashes.
